How to install in 30 seconds

Because Expense Ex isn't on the Play Store yet, your phone needs a quick one-time permission to install it. Here's exactly what to tap.

1
Tap “Download APK”
Your browser downloads the file. If it warns that this type of file can harm your device, choose “Download anyway.” It's safe.
2
Open the downloaded file
Tap the file in your notifications or Downloads folder to start installing.
3
Allow this one install
Android asks to “Allow from this source.” Tap Settings → turn the toggle on → go back. You only do this once.
4
Tap Install and you're done
Press Install, wait a few seconds, then Open. Expense Ex is ready to use.

Add Expense Ex to your Home Screen

Expense Ex isn't on the App Store yet, so the iOS version runs as a web app instead. Once it's added to your Home Screen, it opens full-screen with its own icon, just like any other app.

1
Open the link in Safari
Tap “Open for iPhone” above (must be Safari, not Chrome — only Safari can add web apps to the Home Screen on iOS).
2
Tap the Share icon
It's the square with an arrow pointing up, in Safari's toolbar.
3
Tap “Add to Home Screen”
Scroll down the share sheet if you don't see it right away.
4
Tap Add — you're done
The Expense Ex icon appears on your Home Screen. Tap it any time to open the app full-screen.
Open for iPhone

The iOS web app has all the same budgeting features as Android. Two small differences: unlock uses a PIN only (no Face ID/Touch ID), and it won't send push notifications.
